  • Between 5000 and 6000 issues of the newspaper is sold two or three times a week
  • It is distributed in the streets and the metro of Mexico city through to a network of paper boys (around 30).

  • The newspaper is not officially registred at the Secretaría de Gobernación, but benefits from rights of author

Financing / Donours-Funders

  • The newspaper is auto-financed. One newspaper costs 55 centavos : the distributors buys a number of them, and try to sell them for a good price. They're asking for a cooperation, because the newspaper can not legally be sold in the metro. They can earn a little money through this process
  • From time to time, it publishes annoucements from other organizations belonging to the OPC-CLETA's networks, and is paid for it

  • February 19, 2006: participation to a meeting of alternative media in Zacatelco, Tlaxcala, during the Other Campain organized by the Zapatist movement
  • October 27, 2005: issue #1000
  • October 3, 2001: Machetearte starts to be published on a daily basis
  • 1999-2000: Machetearte participate to the student strike at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). It reaches 30.000 issues.
